social media

Most people don’t use social media the right way. “It’s kind of like the toolset in your garage that’s sitting there. It can do all sorts of stuff, but you don’t know how to use it; many people use it the wrong way. Jeff basically devoted almost two years to really study copywriting on social media, because it’s so much different than copywriting anywhere else.” Jeff Hunter, social media copywriter expert shared.

When you write copy for a landing page or email, you’re writing to one person and no one can see their reaction, but in social media, when you post and people are liking it and commenting on it, it affects the group psychology of the people who are reading your posts.

And when a post starts getting a lot of attention, even more people want to get in on it and like or comment so it can snowball.

The best types of posts are ones where people show their vulnerability like sharing more stories about their origins and why they do what they do and ones that give people hope. Sometimes, it can be sharing a strategy that helps them grow their business in a big way. For instance who doesn’t dream of sending out a $25,000 invoice to a corporation? Kimanzi and Cindy Constable show people how to get these contracts if you have the skills and knowledge.

And comments are more important than likes because they cause engagement and can extend the life of a post a lot longer than just getting likes.

To find out which posts got the most engagement, Jeff collected the data from over 3,000 posts of his and found that an opt-in guide for his LinkedIn Profile Template Optimization Guide got the most. The second most popular was the announcement of his new baby. But it got mostly likes because he wasn’t asking people to comment, and he wasn’t giving them anything of value. But, people do love to leave likes on life/happy events.

So give value or give hope, share who you are, and get people emotionally invested in your story.
